Liebster Blog Award Nomination

A little over a week ago I was nominated for the Liebster Blog Award from Mae of The Life of a Compulsive Crafter. (Thanks, Mae! ♥) Mae is a super talented crafter, indeed. She sews the most adorable clothing for her children and even drafts her own patterns sometimes! Say what?! I know, right? Go check her out. You can read her responses to the Liebster Blog Award nomination and her mention of this little blog and several lovely others here.

So, what is a Liebster Award you may ask? Apparently it's origins have become somewhat of a mystery. A blog-love chain letter of sorts. A little like playing "telephone", the directions for accepting such an award have evolved along the way. The general consensus is that it originated in Germany - "Liebster" meaning "favorite or dearest". It was meant as a way to show love to lesser known, but equally (if not more so!) fabulous blogs. A Google search will show a plethora of explanations and direction. This blog speculates that it may have originated in 2010 for blogs with less than 3,000 followers (it's now 200). If nominated you might find that some ask you in turn, nominate 5 blogs and others 11. Most recently it has been added to answer/ask questions and list other random facts about yourself. From what I've read the original rules are as follows:
  1. Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter on your blog. check
  2. Link back to the blogger who presented the award to you. check
  3. Copy and paste the blog award on your blog. check
  4. Present the Liebster Blog Award to 5 blogs who you feel deserve to be noticed. I'm only nominating 4 because most of the blogs I read when I have the opportunity have way, way more readers than 3k.
  5. Let them know they have been chosen by leaving a comment at their blog.
Soooo, I'm not going to answer the extra questions this time around (sorry!) because honestly between moving and new mommy brain I can't think right now. Hah! And in keeping with my rebel ways, I'm selecting blogs that I adore regardless of the amount of followers they have. These are some of my absolute faves. My time is precious and so is yours so believe me when I say, they're worth a look! Without further ado, I would like to nominate the following blogs:
The Stork & The Beanstalk : Ashley is relatable. She's a nurse, a wife, and mama to 2 boys. She's frank about everything and absolutely cracks me up. I found her blog a while back while searching for tips on traveling with a baby. I love her [great] style feature and really look forward to her Bits + Pieces each week!
The Joyeful Journey : I met Joye through Instagram. I Instantly fell in love with her aesthetic. The beautiful light in her photographs is such a reflection of her. I was happy to see that she kept a blog and have spent quite a bit of time browsing through and reading previous posts. I was the most touched by reading her journey through miscarriage to the birth of her twins. She's a wife and mama to five little ones! She's crafty and she loves Jesus. You can tell she's one of those people who live their faith. I'm very inspired by her and could just tell that in person we'd make great friends!
Milk-Friendly : Maryam is wife, mama to 3 boys, and breastfeeding advocate. I found her blog shortly after I had Benjamin and was breastfeeding myself. I was looking for answers and in one of my Google searches I came across Milk-Friendly. You can read her breastfeeding story here. Her blog features breastfeeding friendly fashion. It's incredibly inspiring and encouraging to get dressed, get out, and still be me. Besides reading her blog I've pinned several of her outfit ideas on Pinterest under Mama Style.
House of Humble : One night while nursing I was clicking links from blog to blog when I stumbled upon House of Humble - a blog following the life of Australian couple Katie and Reuben. They write about their pursuit of "a simple, mindful, beautiful life" and I dig that. Ben and I are on a much similar quest moving forward this year so I look forward to reading their stories and ideas. They just recently purchased their first home and I'm super excited to follow their new adventures there.

Enjoy visiting these blogs! If you know of a lovely little blog I might enjoy reading please share. ♥

Note: Votes keep coming in over at Top Baby Blogs. Remember you can vote once a day (on both your phone and computer if you're feeling super generous!) All it takes is a couple clicks! I'd love, love, love to end up in the top 25! #settingmysightshigh #lovesagoodcompetition #prettypleaseandthankyou
