Happy Independence Day!

I hope you're all having a lovely holiday with family and friends! No cookouts for us this year. We're spending a relatively quiet (how quiet can it be with a 7 month old?) family day at home this year. This morning Benjamin and I went to Piedmont Park to cheer at the finish for my husband who ran the Peachtree Road Race. I took lots of photos, of course, which I'll be sharing tomorrow! We decided not to do fireworks this year for fear that they might scare Benjamin and/or be too loud for his ears but it looks like most shows have been postponed anyway. It's been raining pretty severely all week month Summer and today was no exception. Thankfully it let up and was clear during the run and festivities! (Yay!)
Late this afternoon Ben reminded me that my mom had sent Benjamin this cute tie and hat/headband to wear for 4th of July photos which had completely left my mind. (That's been happening too often lately, but I digress.) I didn't have a diaper cover that would match and knew the light and weather might not hold up too long so I quickly rummaged through his things. Remember this Eligible Bachelor onesie from around Valentine's Day? Bingo! Just this week I had set aside a small piece of elastic I'd salvaged from something (who knows why I do the things I do) and it ended up being the perfect length to fit snugly around Benjamin's diaper. Yay! Less than five minutes on the sewing machine and a quick jaunt outside and we were ready!
And if you're wondering why all of his cute, smiling faces are when he's looking off to the side, it's because he prefers his Daddy to me. Sigh. That's just how it goes some days. I try not to take it too personally. Heh. Happy Independence Day, friends!
PS - Don't forget that today is the last day to enter to win an Owl print beach/pool bag from Love In Every Thread. You have until 11:59 PM EST. Good luck!
