The Gift That Moved Me To Tears

Between all of the well wishes, thoughtful gestures, and sweet gifts I have felt incredibly loved and blessed all throughout this pregnancy. Baby Benjamin and I have been showered in both Georgia and California! I knew it would happen at some point. It was inevitable. I'm an emotional person anyway. Add extra hormones into the mix and it's a surprise I haven't cried more than I have during this pregnancy!

Halfway into opening gifts at my most recent shower I opened this hand crocheted baby blanket from my Great Aunt Gwen. When I pulled it out of the box and made eye contact with her I burst into tears. As I have so often in this pregnancy I thought to myself, "Wow. This is happening. I'm actually having a baby! All these people are here today because they love us." That she would put so much time, love, and energy into such a special gift was very touching to me.

I often look over to his corner or in his dresser drawers and I'm so thankful that God is blessing me in this way. I've dreamed of being a mommy all of my adult life and I could not be happier. Any day now I get to meet my son. I can't wait to wrap him in his blanket and take his picture with it. I'll hold on to it when he gets older and someday when he's having a baby I'll give it back to him.

Thank you, Aunt Gwen, for giving us such a beautiful gift. ♥
